Team Rural - Activism

Who is Team Rural?
We are a coalition of volunteers and staff from the 2008-2010 Campaigns who will not rest until we turn Georgia as Blue as Florida in '08!
We are working diligently to awaken the spirit of community service; coordinating our volunteer efforts with the Democratic Party of Georgia's Democrats Work projects.
Keep McIntosh Beautiful 4/10
We promote involvement and attendance in local government and more importantly, in our own rural communities we are living the belief that we are our Brothers' Keeper.
We are crossing social, ethnic, religious, and economic lines to create a foundation for future Progressive, Democratic, success in Georgia.

Hands Across the Sand Event 6/26/10
St. Simons Island
Demonstration for NO Off-Shore Drilling
Hands across the Sand NO! To offshore drilling

This event was organized by activist Cynthia Potter who lived inland. She found a lot of support from folks on the coastal region. We appreciate her organizing and spearheading Georgia's unity with the nationwide event.

Team Rural as Activists
At a KKK Rally March 2010 Nahunta Ga

Team Rural supporters showed up (from 8 counties along with the NAACP) and demonstrated in SUPPORT of President Obama's plan for Immigration Reform and for the Dream Walkers- 4 courageous college students who were walking from Miami to Washington DC to draw attention to illegal immigrants plight in America today. We stood united in our purpose to denounce the message of exclusion the KKK espoused that day on their journey.

Amber-Jean tells local news reporters that if we are not native Americans then we are all immigrants and have we forgotten that we are a nation founded on inclusion and religious tolerance.

The KKK may rally in our back yard, however, they DO NOT represent Southeast Georgia.

Partner with Team Rural to bring real, lasting, change to the rural South. We can't do it without you!

We attend Town Hall Meetings with Congressman Jack Kingston to hold him accountable for his voting record. We are proud to be the face of rural Progressive Democrats in Georgia. Liberal is NOT a dirty word in our vocabulary. It was not Jack's usual "Love Fest" between angry Tea partiers and Team Rural activists. I found we actually had some things in common=Poor Representation; that is one thing Tea Partiers and Team Rural agreed upon. Jack Kingston's gotta go and Team Rural is in it for the long haul; whatever it takes. We will put a Democrat in District 1's Congressional seat by 2012.
